OUR MISSION

The mission of the Office of Physician Billing Compliance (OPBC) is to promote compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies related to professional fee billing.  We accomplish our mission by assessing compliance risks, providing training and education, conducting internal audits, and responding to reports of suspected noncompliance.  The OPBC also serves as a resource to the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) community by providing answers to compliance-related questions and assisting the University’s efforts to structure and operate clinical practices in a compliant manner.

Employee Responsibility

Employees have a responsibility to report activities that are inconsistent with University policies or legal requirements for billing of professional services.  Reports may be anonymous and will be held in strictest confidence.  Employees who report a billing concern in good faith will not be subjected to retaliation or harassment.
